Earlier this month, vivo announced that its next flagship smartphone for Kenya, the vivo V21, was to launch in the country before the end of the month. This is the successor to the vivo V20 from last year and will be the first major release by the company in 2021.

The vivo V21 has finally been unveiled in Kenya and will be available in stores including Jumia for Ksh 42,000. This is right around where previous V series devices debuted at.

“We developed our V21 lineup based on our insights into what our customers value the most in their phones. This OIS front camera marks a radical step in setting the standard for future smartphone front cameras,” says James Irungu vivo Kenya Brand and Communications Manager. “As the virtual world continues to merge with our physical reality, the V21 series’ front-end OIS camera with its powerful selfie spotlight, sleek design, and amazing user experience will help our customers present their best selves both virtually and in person.”

The vivo V21 comes with a 44-megapixel selfie camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). This is the world’s first smartphone to feature this. The camera is not the only stand out feature on this phone, it also comes with a 90Hz refresh rate which is becoming common these days and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U processor.

The display of the vivo V21 features an E3 AMOLED display with the back having AG Matte glass. The display is a 6.44-inch one that as we have mentioned has a 90Hz refresh rate. This is not the highest but it is still good enough.

The MediaTek Dimensity 800U processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage space. For the OS, the phone comes with Funtouch OS 11.1 that is based on Android 11.

A triple camera setup sits at the back of the vivo V21 and this is made up of a 64MP main sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro lens. Some of the camera features include 4K video support, Art Portrait video, Ultra-Wide Night mode just to name a few.

Providing all the power is a 4,000 mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.

The device will be available in two variant colors in Kenya, Sunset Dazzle, and Dusk Blue.
