If you’re a Twitter regular, Clubhouse discussions are unavoidable. People have something to say about Clubhouse, left and right. For starters, Clubhouse is an audio-based social network that allows people to chat about anything in real-time.

Like other trendy features and apps, the Clubhouse boom hasn’t passed Facebook’s keen eyes and ears. The social media giant is reportedly developing a Clubhouse-like product, just days after Facebook’s founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg joined a Clubhouse room on Sunday chatting about augmented and virtual reality.

According to the report, the company’s executives ordered employees to start working on a Clubhouse clone. As of now, the feature is in early development.

By any means, Clubhouse isn’t the first app Facebook is copying – and perhaps won’t be the last.

In response to the report, a Facebook spokesperson more or less confirmed such developments.

“We’ve been connecting people through audio and video technologies for many years and are always exploring new ways to improve that experience for people,” a Facebook spokesperson told the New York Times.

Facebook has been known to copy trendy features on rival apps. It has cloned Snapchat’s Stories feature, which allows users to post disappearing photos and videos in 24 hours, which has been availed across Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook itself.

Last year, Facebook launched a look-alike TikTok feature dubbed Reels. Besides, it launched Messenger Rooms, a Zoom competitor, after the videoconferencing’s platform usage skyrocketed on the backdrop of the pandemic coupled with stay-in-house orders.
