The realme C15 Battery: Huge But is it Long lasting?

realme C15 back

I have been using the realme C15 for a while now as I work on the full review that will be up tomorrow. This is the latest from the company and you can get it in Kenya starting from Ksh 17,000. The phone joins the realme 6, realme C3 and the realme C11. All these phones were unveiled in Kenya in the last two months so they are good choices if you want a smartphone from realme other than the realme C15.

Out of the many features the realme C15 comes with, its 6,000 mAh battery is one that stans out for me. We are just getting used to having 5,000 mAh batteries on smartphones and realme has just decided to take that to a whole different level.

The realme C15 is not a power-hungry smartphone so the 6,000 mAh battery should theoretically last you for up to 2 days on a single charge. During my review, it did last longer than this as you will see later in this post.

Before getting to the review, let us just highlight some of the key specifications of the realme C15.

  • Display: 6.5-inch; 720 x 1560 pixels
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio G35
  • RAM: 3/4GB RAM
  • Storage: 32/64 GB
  • Rear cameras: 13MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP
  • Front camera: 8MP
  • Battery: 6000mAh

I got the 4GB RAM variant with 64GB of internal storage space.

The Battery Test

When using the realme C15, I wanted to use the phone as I would normally use any other and see how long the battery lasts. Through this, I was not just running battery tests that do not mean anything but rather run tests that would reflect real life usage.

In most cases I would easily get the battery to last for two days with heavy usage. In some cases, I could get it to last even longer when I am not using my phone extensively. This is probably one of the best smartphone batteries I have used within this price range this year. It is so reliable and in most cases I had to confirm that I still had enough battery power remaining as if it was a different smartphone, I would have run out of power at that particular point.

With such a battery, I can easily see it lasting for more than 2 days for some people who are not always on their phones. You should get it close to 4 days with regular social media browsing, calls and messaging.

Power Saving Options

To make the battery last even longer, realme UI comes with a number of battery saving options that you can take advantage of. There is the standard Power saving mode and the Super Power saving mode. The standard power saving mode is not that extreme and limits background activity and through this can give you up to a day extra of usage.

The Super power saving mode on the other hand is useful when you are running low on battery and still need to use your phone and a few apps. This feature lets you choose 6 apps that you can use and makes the others inaccessible. It sort of turns your phone into a feature phone with only access to the apps you choose. Since Most apps in the background use your battery and you may even be tempted to use them, this feature limits access to them giving you more battery life. This feature can be useful when travelling and you still want access to your messages, WhatsApp and even calls and not any of the extra apps on your phone.

Fast Charging Support

A 6,000 mAh battery takes time to charge and with that, realme saw it fit to include fast charging support. This is not the ultra-fast charging we have on the realme 6 but it is still good enough.

With the realme C15, we are getting 18W fast charging which should fully charge the phone in a little over 2 hours. This is not so bad for a battery that will last you for at least 2 days.

Conclusion

The realme C15 has a very good battery that really surprised me during the review period. The phone is relatively fast and even with that, I could get the battery to last me for up to 2 days. This is not something you expect from a phone within this price range as it is what we see on most entry level smartphones that have very slow processing power.

18W fast charging is not the fastest but it still gets the job done. 30W fast charging would have made the charging experience even better and clearly set this phone apart from its competition.

The power saving features are quite useful when the battery is running low and you are not near a power outlet.
