Vivo is planning to launch yet another smartphone into the Kenyan market in the coming week. This new phone, the vivo Y30, is part of the company’s Y series meant for the youth and joins the vivo V19 that was launched in Kenya recently.

Being part of vivo’s Y series, the Y30 should be cheaper than the V19. The phone should retail for between Ksh 20,000 and Ksh 25,000 which puts it on the firing range of the Huawei Y8p, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S and a few other phones we have seen in 2020. This is a very competitive segment and vivo has to impress its customers if it is to succeed.

The vivo Y30 comes with some specs we have been seeing a lot in 2020. These include a 5,000 mAh battery, AI Quad camera at the back and the punch hole notch.

Speaking on the expected launch, Arthur Xian, vivo Kenya CEO said, “The flexible display and design market this 2020 is growing unexpectedly. The technology is expected to expand further and diverse. Our goal is to dominate in the flexible display market by introducing new products with enhanced performance and differentiated designs at an affordable price this year.”

Here are some of the other specifications of the vivo Y30.

Display: 6.47 inches IPS LCD  display with a resolution of 720 x 1560 pixels
    Processor:  MT6765 Helio P35
    RAM: 4GB
Storage: 128 GB internal storage; expandable
    Cameras: Quad: 13MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP, 8MP front-facing camera
    SIM: dual SIM
    Battery: 5.000 mAh battery
    Android:  Android 10.0; Funtouch 10.0

    Vivo Y1S

Besides the vivo Y30, the company will also be launching the vivo Y1S soon. This will be a more affordable phone that should be available for less than Ksh 14,000. We haven’t seen much activity from vivo within this price segment this year and the Y1S may be the right phone to shake things up.
