Digital newspaper kenya

With social distancing and not that many people out and about, finding ways to capture this crowd is something most businesses are trying to do. We have seen businesses come up with new products and services to sell to those not moving around as much. For some other businesses, all they are doing is sensitize the public about its products if they already have them on the market.

For media houses in Kenya, they have partnered with Safaricom to get their digital newspapers to more smartphone users. Through this partnership, Safaricom customers will be able to get the newspapers for Ksh 20 per issue. This is a promotional price of KES 20 per day for the next two months.

The price will be deducted from the customer’s airtime making the process seamless. The Ksh 20 also Includes data usage and this ensures that customer’s data is not consumed when they are reading through the paper.

“The world is quickly evolving to be digitally-led and we see our customers increasingly seeking ways in which they can achieve their goals by tapping into the convenience of their smartphone. We are glad to partner with media houses to digitise the newspaper channel and make them available on the mobile phone,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom.

No registration or signup will be necessary neither will customers be requested to download and install any application.

This interested in this service can do so by heading to Safaricom.com and then tapping on the “Discover” option and then select “Newspapers”. From here, they will see the newspapers available for purchase. There is also another option that involves dialling *550#.

Newspapers currently available from the Standard Group include The Standard, Saturday Standard, Sunday Standard and The Nairobian.

Nation Media Group will have Daily Nation, Saturday Nation, Sunday Nation and The Business Daily.
