After several leaks the OnePlus way, the company finally unveiled its OnePlus 8 series devices. The series ships in two variants: OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. In terms of design, the two are pretty similar, but the Pro is slightly bigger than the standard OnePlus 8 and is equipped with better specs.

Under the hood is Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset paired with the mandatory X55 5G modem that enables 5G support.

The OnePlus 8 features a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED display maxing out at 90fps. The fingerprint sensor is placed under the display, and there’s a tiny 3.8mm cutout on the display housing the 16MP, f/2.0 selfie camera.

The 8 Pro, on the other hand, has a 6.78-inch AMOLED QHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, still with an in-display fingerprint sensor and a hole punch with a 16MP, f/2.45 selfie camera.

On the camera front, the standard OnePlus 8 has three lenses [48MP ( f/1.78, OIS, EIS) + 2MP (macro, f/2.4) + 16MP (ultrawide, f/2.2, 116°)]. At the same time, the Pro gets a quartet composed of a 48MP, f/1.78 primary shooter with both OIS and EIS, an 8MP, f/2.44 3x zoom telephoto with OIS, another 48MP, f/2.2 ultrawide snapper, and a 5MP, f/2.4 color filter.

Over the years, OnePlus has been compromising its devices with the lack of a few perks that were found on flagship devices — but not this time. There is an official IP68 rating plus 30W wireless charging support for the 8 Pro. But those speeds come at a price, though, since the $69.95 charger isn’t included in the box. However, OnePlus 8 Pro is Qi-compatible so you can use any other Qi-standard charger, but you won’t get those high speeds as noted earlier.

All of that said, you miss out on wireless charging if you choose the standard OnePlus 8, plus the battery capacity is a bit less (4,300mAh) instead of 4510mAh.

For the software side, there’s Google’s latest Android 10 OS slapped on top with Oxygen OS.

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro Price

OnePlus 8 starts at $699 for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, but topping up $100 to $799 gets you 12GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. There are three color variants to choose from: Onyx Black, Glacial Green, and Interstellar Glow, which highly depends on the memory configuration.

A similar 8GB/128GB memory configuration for OnePlus 8 Pro will set you back by $899(only in Glacial Green). For the maximum 12GB RAM and 256GB memory configuration, you will have to pay a whopping $999. Here there are two color variants: Onyx Black or Ultramarine Blue.
