Xiaomi has Sold 5 Million Redmi K20 Series Phones

Redmi K20 PRO

Almost every company has a habit of sharing sales figures, but no one does it as often as Xiaomi.

Early this month, the company announced that sales of the Redmi Note series devices exceeded 110 million, which translates to 10 million units sold in just five months.

Redmi, now a sub-brand of Xiaomi, says they have sold 5 million Redmi K20 series phones. The series shipped in two models; Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro, and has been available for around nine months now.

Unlike the Redmi Note series, whose aim to take over the lower-midrange smartphone market, the Redmi K series is the brand’s premium handsets often referred to as “flagship killers.”

Redmi has managed to win many new users with their best value for money devices in their available markets around the world.

According to the company, half of the 5 million sales were from new users who had a Redmi-branded phone for the first time. Last December, the company kicked off its Redmi K30 series by releasing the basic K30 first.

Yesterday, the company released the Pro models of the series dubbed the Redmi K30 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro Zoom. Like the other Redmi K series phones, they offer one of the best value for money in the market.

Both models ship with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 865 chipset. Redmi K30 Pro devices also have an AMOLED display and can shoot 8K videos. The price is mind-blowing, starting at around Ksh 43,300, excluding VAT for the 6/128GB model.

Since the Redmi K30 went on sale, the company has already managed to sell over a million units after three months in China.
