Samsung Teases a New Foldable Smartphone Concept that looks more like a flip phone

samsung new fold concept

Samsung can’t get enough of foldable phones. The smartphone industry has been experiencing a slowdown in sales, and most companies want to bet on foldable phones as the key to more sales. But, to be honest, no one is betting on foldable smartphones more than Samsung.

The South Korean tech giant even went ahead to patent a new foldable design concept for the Galaxy Fold 2 with the original fold still under works after the unfortunate problems that occurred before its public launch.

Yesterday, Samsung revealed a new foldable phone concept at its developer conference. From the video, the new foldable concept looks similar to the traditional flip phone but with a flexible display.

The original fold is a bit chunky – to say the least, but with this concept, the company wants to make a perfectly normal smartphone form factor but one that is foldable, and perfectly sits in your pocket. Samsung says it is pushing the foldable smartphone technology to become more compact to change the way you use your phone.

At the conference, Samsung also detailed its efforts on improving One UI in the upcoming One UI 2. Some fundamental changes coming to One UI 2 includes a more compact design for easier reachability in one-hand use, focus mode, more vibrant hues, animated icons, as well as system-wide dark mode.
