Tecno has finally announced that its latest flagship smartphone, the Tecno Phantom 9, is available in retail stores in Kenya. The phone was to be launched in the country over a month ago but due to unforeseen circumstances, that was not the case.

If you have been waiting for this phone, the wait is finally over as you can get it in the country for Ksh 25,000. The phone is available through Tecno branded shops, Safaricom outlets and online through Jumia. The is the first phantom smartphone in two years as the company did not release one last year.

At this price, the Tecno Phantom 9 will be competing with the Galaxy A50 from Samsung, the Huawei P30 Lite and Y9 Prime 2019 just to name a few. The named devices are quite good and offer good value for money and Tecno will not have a smooth ride.

Tecno says that there is an option for people to trade in their current Tecno phones for the Phantom 9. This is done through Lipa Later, there is also an option get the Phantom 9 and pay monthly installments of as low as Ksh 2,730 through Lipa Later. This may be a better option in my opinion as we do not see trade-in options from other manufacturers. In most cases, you have to buy the product outright.

The Tecno Phantom 9 is all about the cameras, it has three of them at the back and one for selfies. At the back, we do get a 16MP, 8MP and 2MP sensors. “With the amazing AI triple camera plus other wonderful features, we are proud to say it was worth the wait. Photography enthusiasts and business professionals will find that is a great addition to their work and entertainment toolbox” said Stephen HA, Managing Director of Tecno Mobile. The cameras have some neat features that I will try and highlight in the full review of this phone.

Below are some of the key specifications of the Tecno Phantom 9.
