The Infinix Hot 7 series has finally been launched in Kenya. The phone comes in two variants, one with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage space and the other one has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage space. These two phones have been up on pre-order through InfinixMall and now are available to buy for Ksh 9,999 for the 1GB variant and Ksh 10,999 for the 2GB variant. You will be able to buy these phones through Infinixmall or through Infinix retail stores countrywide. The phones are not available through Jumia or Kilimall and I am not sure why, we may see them on these platforms at a later date but right now you can only get them online through Infinixmall.

The two variants of the Infinix Hot 7 have a lot of similarities with their main differences being in the size of RAM/storage space and the cameras. At their prices and specifications, these two phones will compete with devices such as the Huawei Y6 Prime 2019 which was launched in Kenya last week and to some extent the Xiaomi Redmi Go.

The Infinix Hot 7 with 1GB of RAM is an Android Go smartphone while the 2GB variant comes with the normal version of Android (8.1 Oreo). It is disappointing to see these phones come with Android 8.1 in 2019 even as Android Pie has been out for months and we are already talking about Android Q. I hope the company has plans to update these phones sometime this year.

The Infinix Hot 7 smartphones come with a new gradient colour that we have seen gain popularity over the last 12 months. The gradient purple model, which is the main gradient colour available, is not available on Infinixmall and again, I am not sure when it will be available. I am also not sure of this colour will be available through offline stores but will keep an eye on that and update you if and when I get that information.

Below are some of the key specifications of the Infinix Hot 7:

    Display Size: 6.2 inches with a resolution of 720 x 1500 Pixels

    Processor: 1.3 GHz Quad-core Mediatek MT6580P

RAM: 1GB, 2GB for the Pro

Storage Space: 16GB and 32GB for the Pro, can be expanded to 128GB using a microSD card

    GPU: Mali-400MP2

Android Version: Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) for the standard Hot 7, Android 8.1 for the Hot 7 Pro

Main Camera: 13MP for the standard Hot 7 and 13MP + 2 MP for the Hot 7 Pro

    Selfie Camera: 8MP

    Battery: 4000 mAh battery

I will be getting a review unit and will be able to share more information about Infinix Hot 7 once I use it.
