Every year, Huawei comes out with a new phablet under its ‘Mate series’. We normally see these devices towards the end of the year, mostly during November. This year will be a bit different as the company will be unveiling the next phablet, the Huawei Mate 10 on October 16.

From what we have heard so far, the Huawei Mate 10 is codenamed ‘Marcel’ and there is also a Pro model that is codenamed ‘Blanc’. These are the two devices were have known about all along but it looks like there is another device that is codenamed Alps. This is according to @evleaks who shared the information through Twitter. He then went ahead to give some of the key specifications of both devices.

    Huawei Mate 10 ‘Blanc’

Starting with the Huawei Mate 10 ‘Blanc’, it will be the Pro model and will come with a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,880 pixels. This display will have an 18:9 aspect ratio and this is something we have seen smartphone manufacturers embrace this year. It will be powered by the Kirin 970 processor that was announced not so long ago. This processor is paired with 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage space.

At the back is a dual camera setup of 12MP+20MP lenses co-developed with Leica, the front facing snapper is an 8MP one. As expected the Mate 10 will comes with Android 8.0 preinstalled.

Providing all the juice is a 4,000 mAh battery that is good enough for a phablet.

    The Mate 10 ‘Alps’

The Mate 10 ‘Alps’ is not that different from the Blanc model. It comes with the same processor but a slightly smaller display of 5.88 inches with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. This display will have the normal 16:9 aspect ratio unlike the 18:9 one on the pro model.

This model will have 4GB of RAM and different storage options but not 128GB. I expect most other specs to be the same as those of the Blanc model even though nothing has been confirmed yet.

Keep it here to be updated on this device if and when I get more information.
