Netflix seems to be having a very good year as the video streaming site is reporting that its user base just crossed the 104 million mark. This is quite impressive and is up from 99 million that the company reported last quarter. Adding about 5 million members in just a quarter (3 months) isn’t easy but Netflix has pretty much done it according to its latest shareholders letter.

The company says that this was a good quarter that was propelled by its “strong slate of content.” I agree with this statement as we have seen the addition of pretty good content to its platform which has attracted the 5.2 million new subscribers to join Netflix.

    International Subscribers Account for 50.1%

Netflix has also reported that at the moment, international subscribers account for 50.1% of its memberships. This is something I expected ever since the company decided to expand its services to almost all corners of the globe in January last year. We will probably see this being the trend and I won’t be surprised if by the end of the year at least 55% or 60% of all subscribers being those out of the United States.

Speaking of United States, the country is still seeing impressive growth and during the previous quarter, it saw the addition of 1.1 million new subscribers.

Going forward, Netflix plans to expand its global reach with the addition of international programming in the coming months.
