Are into video messages? If so, the updated Telegram app is for you. Telegram Version 4.0 is out on the Play Store and brings a number of changes including video messages and the ability for bots to accept payments.

Telegram already supports voice messages and this update makes it even better by allowing users to send video messages. Not everyone will be a big fan of video messages but those that do will definitely love this update.

To send video messages through Telegram, open a chat and tap on the mic icon to switch to the camera mode. When you tap the mic icon, you will see a notification informing you that you can record video by tapping and holding the camera icon, do that. When you are done recording, just release the button and your video message will be sent to your contact.

By default, video messages will be recorded using the front facing camera, you can easily switch to the back camera using the icon on the bottom left corner. You can only send videos that are 1 minute long, if that is not enough for you, you can send multiple videos, each being 1 minute long.

When recording a video message, you can swipe up on the recording button to lock it on recording mode if you do not want to hold it when it’s recording. When you do so, you will have to click send when the recording is done as the video isn’t sent automatically.

Besides video messages, this update also brings Telescope, “a dedicated video hosting platform for those who use videos to communicate with their audiences.” Public video messages will be visible to anyone even those with no Telegram accounts.

    Bot Payments

Telegram version 4.0 also brings Bot Payments to its platform. With this, you will be able to order goods and services from bots. It is up to the makers of the said bots to integrate this and allow their customers to pay for goods or services through the bots. When a developer integrates this option, users will see the Pay button which they can tap on and then enter the requires payment information and the confirm.

Lastly, Telegram has also added Instant View feature on its app. “With Instant View, you can enjoy articles from any blog or media outlet in a uniform and easily readable way. Beyond merely showing the text of an article, Instant View pages support images, videos, and any other media. They work great even if the source website isn’t optimized for mobile devices.”
