Exclusive: XOS will be Infinix’s Customized User Interface similar to Tecno’s HiOS

Back in April when Tecno officially unveiled the Boom J8 smartphone, it also unveiled its new custom User Interface (UI), HiOS. THE Boom J8 was the first smartphone from the company to come with HiOS out of the box.

Having a custom UI is not anything new in the smartphone market, most other manufacturers have had their own custom UIs for years. Samsung has Touchwiz, Huawei has Emotion UI, Xiaomi has MiUI, HTC has Sense UI. There are many other custom UIs on the market and the next one that we will be seeing a lot will be from Infinix.

Infinix is currently testing XOS internally and we may see the first device to come with this new custom UI before the end of the year. The beta version used for testing purposes is currently available for the Infinix Zero 3 and it is not available for the public just yet, it is being tested internally.

As expected, the first version of XOS is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. I do not have any official images but from my interaction with the UI, I noticed that it borrows a few things from HiOS. This is not a bad thing since Tecno and Infinix are owned by the same company. If you have used HiOS, the XOS will feel right at home.

My guess at this point is that we may see XOS with the Infinix Hot S which will be the next smartphone from the company. Even though Infinix hasn’t confirmed it, I expect the Hot S to be launched sometime next month or even in September. The Hot S will be an interesting device as I got to see its mockup and it looks absolutely beautiful. It has a design similar to that of the Infinix Zero 2 but this time around the company has decided to go with an all metal unibody one. Its selling point will be the 8MP front facing camera with LED flash. Besides the front facing camera, the Hot S will have some decent specs including a MediaTek Helio X10 processor, 3GB of RAM, fingerprint scanner among other features.

Right now am excited to see what XOS is all about and how it compares to XUI which you get with any Infinix phone that you buy.

That is all we have at the moment, we will update you with more information as we get it.
