A few weeks ago, Oppo unveiled one of its best camera phones yet, the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus. Both these phones were launched in China and we were not sure if they would be available for the international markets. If you have been waiting for the international versions of either the R9 or R9 Plus, you may be happy to know that Oppo will be launching them next week.

Oppo will be taking the R9 and R9 to India first as from April 5. The company has already sent out media invites to an even it has next week with the tag line ‘Selfie Expert’. The invite does not clearly state that the company will be unveiling the R9 and R9 Plus but considering both these phones have 16MP front facing cameras, you can connect the dots to conclude that the company will be unveiling these devices at the event.

The Oppo R9 has a 5.5 inch AMOLED HD display and is powered by a Mediatek Helio P10 Processor with four Cortex-A53 cores clocking at 1.0GHz and the other four at 2.0GHz. These are used in combination with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space.

The cameras are the most appealing features with a 13MP one at the back and a 16MP one in front. This is a unique combination as we are used to having the back cameras having more Mega Pixels.

The Oppo R9 plus on the other hand has a slightly bigger 6 inch AMOLED HD display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 652 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and either 64 or 128GB of internal storage space.  This variant will also have a 13MP camera at the back and a 16MP one in front. The back camera is able to shoot 4K videos.

The Oppo R9 is priced at $430 (approximately Ksh 44,000) and the R9 Plus is available for $510 (approximately Ksh 52,000).
