Yesterday, I told you about WhatsApp reaching a new milestone of over 1 billion active monthly users. Well, it looks like WhatsApp is not the only company that has reached this milestone. When announcing its earnings call, Alphabet (the company that owns Google) said that Gmail currently has over 1 billion monthly active users.
It has taken Gmail over a decade to cross the 1 billion mark but either way this is impressive. Gmail launched back in 2004 and has revolutionized the market and is the most popular email client out there.

Back in 2013, Gmail became the most widely-used web-based email service provider when it reached over 425 million monthly users. This may not seem like a big number right now but back them it was very huge.
Gmail is not the only product from Google that has passed the 1 billion active users. Chrome, Google Play, YouTube, Android and Google maps have all crossed this milestone.
