The Asus ZenWatch is one good looking and stylish smartwatch currently on the market. The ZenWatch has been around since September last year and naturally people expected Asus to introduce the successor to this smartwatch this year.  Unfortunately, this is not going to happen as the company is looking at 2016 to unveil its next smartwatch.

According to its CEO, Jerry Shen, the new smartwatch that Asus is working on will not be available till next year. Previously, Shen has been quoted saying that the ZenWatch 2 will be available as from Q3 of 2015. No one knows what has changed but if the Q3 passes with no new smartwatch from Asus, expect it to be there in January 2016 probably at CES or even later in March at Mobile World Congress.

The first Asus ZenWatch was launched as a test product according to Shen. The company wanted to test market reception. With the reception it got, the company is looking for ways to improve its smartwatches before launching the next iteration.

Shen went ahead to reveal that the ZenWatch 2 will be available in two variants, one for men and the other for women. He did not reveal anything else about this smartwatch even the rumours that the company was planning to ditch Android Wear on its next smartwatch.

At this point, am not sure that Asus will ditch Android wear completely. The company will probably have its main smartwatch running Android wear and a limited edition one with some other OS. Launching a smartwatch with a different OS will affect its adoption and sales in my opinion.
