The Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra Will Be the Company’s Second try in the Phablet Market

Sony has countable devices in the market ever since it decided to cut down its product line up a while back. The company is currently working on the Xperia Z4 Smartphone that will be unveiled later this month. We do not know much about the Xperia Z4 even as we come close to the launch date. What we are certain about is that it will be powered by the Snapdragon 810 processor and will have 3GB of RAM.

Sony has not said much about the Xperia Z4 only pointing out that it will be slimmer, lighter and brighter. Whatever this means, we will find out later this month.

Apart from the Xperia Z4, Sony is working on a phablet, the Xperia Z4 Ultra. This will be a 6-inch handset that will be launched later this year and not the same day as the Xperia Z4. A source in the manufacturing plant working on the Xperia Z4 Ultra revealed this information to Digitimes. Apart from the screen size, not much information about this phablet is known probably because it’s still early in the production process to know much.

Should Sony Re-Enter The Phablet Market?

The question is, is it wise for Sony to reinvest in a phablet? In my opinion it should, phablets are quite popular these days and Sony should try its luck with the Xperia Z4 Ultra. My only problem here is the size, a 6 inch screen is too big. The likes of the Galaxy Note 4 that has a 5.7-inch screen and the iPhone 6 Plus with a 5.5 inch screen already seem big. Thinking of a 6-inch screen is just too much.

Sony should pick a size between 5.5 and 5.9 inches for it to be lucky. Pushing the boundaries too far will affect sales in my opinion. Let’s just hope Sony comes to its senses and reduces the size slightly otherwise it will have a problem selling the device.

I will inform you about this phablet as more information is available.
