Google and HTC getting closer to unveiling the Nexus 9.

HTC Google

For some time now, it has been speculated that the Nexus 9 is about to be released. As much as it still stands that way, it is now emerging that HTC is the company set to make the device. Yes, this too has been circulating the web for some time but it can now be confirmed that indeed it is HTC that will be making the device. This is not the first relationship between Google and HTC, as the two companies collaborated in the first Nexus device, the Nexus One back in 2010. Now they are set to rekindle their friendship with the Nexus 9, which is interestingly set to be unveiled later this year, most probably early to mid-October.

Google has been known for alternating between the manufacturers of the Nexus devices. It is not immediately clear why this is the case, but it is claimed that it chose HTC this time round due to the fact that HTC does not really have a tablet of its own, or any confirmed plans for one. Samsung has its own range of tablets, and choosing it for the manufacturing of the Nexus 9 would mean that there would be some clash between the Nexus and the Galaxy tablets.

In addition to being an HTC-branded tablet, the Nexus 9 is expected to have the Tegra K1 CPU from Nvidia. It is also expected to run on Android L, given that they are both to be released on the same day later on in October. Google’s Nexus devices have been really popular, and are often regarded as the top-most echelon of Android’s true power and glory. With Android L, a capable processor in the name of Tegra K1, plus HTC’s ground-breaking designs, the Nexus 9 is sure to uphold the standards.
