GIONEE LOGO

At Tech Arena, we are always fascinated by the mobile and gadgets world. Most of the time, we cover the flagship devices released by some of the world’s leading manufacturers. These are the likes of the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, LG G3 among others. We also on occasion cover some of the smaller players who are trying to leave a mark in the tech scene.

One of such players is Gionee. This is a Chinese company that was formed in 2002 and has some interesting Smartphones for those who want to break off from the usual devices we currently have on the market. One device is the Gionee GN9005 which is still in the works but when released could be the thinnest Smartphone ever.

The Gionee GN900 is 5 mm thin making it thinner than the Samsung Galaxy S5 that is 8.1mm thin, the iPhone 5s that is 7.6mm thin and the Huawei Ascend P7 that is 6.5 mm thin.

The specs for the Gionee GN9005 are impressive with a 4.8-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280. Under the hood, it will have a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor with 1GB of RAM. 16GB of storage comes standard with this phone with an 8MP camera ate the back and a 5MP front facing one.  This Smartphone will be powered by a 2050mAh battery and will come with. Android 4.3 pre-installed.

The company has not said anything about the price or release date but it’s likely the phone is headed to China first before other markets.
