It looks like very soon Sony and Microsoft who controls a major share of game consoles market in the world will have a run for their cash. A new kid is set to be in town, priced at $99 (approximately Kshs 8500). Set for initial release on March 28 in San Francisco, the new console is set to realign the game console market. Some of the promises its making include:
Free -to-try Games
As a major selling point, every game is free — well, free-to-try. This means that one will only purchase a game after they have tried it since developers will offer a free demo with a full-game upgrade, in-game items or powers, or ask release episodic games.
No Discs, The games will not come in a disc but rather it will adopt a common trend of an online games market where gamers will be downloading their games.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS
The game is set to run on a modified version of the Google’s operating system.
Game Development
The game console is also a game development kit meaning that developers will not have to purchase different sets of expensive SDKs — every console comes with all the tools you’ll need to make a great game. The makers also say that submitting and publishing apps to their game store will be quick and easy.
Graphics
Their partnership with NVIDIA is set to bring the best-in-class graphics and performance.
Warranty- NEW and Different!
The console has a new way of dealing with warranty since one is allowed to open it without voiding the warranty to allow for easy modding and possible hardware add-ons. Its website says “And, if you’re up for it, you can open OUYA up and look around (both the console and controller come with standard screws).”
As if that is not enough, the device is also allowed and also won’t void the warranty. Actually, they are offering to root it for you at price for the developer models.
