Konza Technopolis Development Authority CEO John Paul Okwiri recently hosted an AWS delegation led by Robin Njiru, Regional Lead for Public Sector, as the two organisations begin a new chapter of strategic collaboration.
Konza says the proposed partnership will focus on strengthening Kenya’s cloud, innovation and technology ecosystem through a number of initiatives. These include the potential establishment of an AWS Outpost and a Startup and Technical Centre of Excellence at Konza Technopolis.

The proposed AWS Outpost would support the adoption of hybrid cloud solutions and at the same time address data residency and low-latency requirements for public sector institutions and enterprises in Kenya.
The collaboration will also focus on skills development and workforce enablement. This will be done through training and certification programmes designed to build technical capacity in cloud technologies, data management, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
The proposed partnership could also create additional opportunities for startups and scale-ups to access AWS credits, technical mentorship, AWS Partner Network opportunities and other support programmes aimed at accelerating innovation and business growth.
