Westcon-Comstor has cut its combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% since 2022, ahead of schedule on its goal of a 50% reduction by 2030, the global technology distributor announced.
The company disclosed the progress in its latest Responsible Business Report for the financial year ending 28 February 2026 (FY26).
Renewable electricity now accounts for 54% of the company’s global electricity consumption, up from 50% a year earlier, bringing Westcon-Comstor closer to its ambition of sourcing all electricity from renewable sources by the end of the decade.
The report is aligned to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and is the company’s first reporting cycle under the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). It also highlights several initiatives that were implemented in FY26, including the installation of electricity sub-meters in strategic offices and logistics facilities, the integration of environmental KPIs into reporting systems and the introduction of global responsible business travel guidelines. The company also installed on-site renewable energy generation at key facilities in the UK and Australia.
While operational emissions continued to decline, the company reported a 6% increase in Scope 3 emissions—those generated across its wider value chain. Westcon-Comstor attributed the increase to business growth and the manufacture, distribution and use of hardware products, noting that improved supplier data and stronger engagement with vendors are expected to support future reductions.
“Our latest Responsible Business Report reflects meaningful advances in both our environmental performance and the maturity of our ESG management and reporting,” said Laura Mozden, Global Head of ESG at Westcon-Comstor. She added that reducing value chain emissions remains the company’s biggest challenge and will require deeper collaboration with channel partners and vendors.
Westcon-Comstor CEO David Grant said sustainability remains a long-term strategic priority rather than a short-term initiative.
“Meaningful change will depend on stronger collaboration across our value chain and the wider technology ecosystem. Our focus remains on supporting partners and vendors to help build a more resilient and sustainable IT channel,” he said.
