Flutterwave has announced a collaboration with Xoom to facilitate faster cross-border money transfers into Nigeria.
The partnership connects Xoom’s global remittance network with Flutterwave’s local payout infrastructure. With this, users worldwide can send money directly to Nigerian bank accounts with improved speed and efficiency.
Under the collaboration, Xoom transfers will be converted by Flutterwave and settled locally in Nigerian Naira (NGN). Recipients can receive funds directly into accounts at major banks including Access Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Zenith Bank, First Bank of Nigeria, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) and other participating financial institutions.
“We’re excited to have been chosen by Xoom for their Nigeria expansion,” said Olugbenga “GB” Agboola, Founder and CEO of Flutterwave. “Millions of Nigerians rely on money from abroad to support everyday needs, whether it’s families receiving help from loved ones, freelancers getting paid for their work, or individuals earning income from the global economy. This helps make it easy and more reliable for people in Nigeria to receive funds and stay connected to opportunities beyond borders.”
Nigeria remains the largest recipient of remittances in Sub-Saharan Africa. Even with that said, cross-border payments into the country have often been affected by foreign exchange constraints and settlement delays.
Flutterwave said the partnership aims to address these challenges by combining Xoom’s international reach with its local banking partnerships and compliance infrastructure. This makes it easier for Nigerians to receive funds from abroad.
