Equity Group Foundation (EGF) and iamtheCODE have partnered to train 600,000 young people across Africa in artificial intelligence (AI), coding and other digital skills.

The new initiative seks to offer free access to 65,000 online courses, mentorship programs and certification opportunities through the iamtheCODE platform. The partnership will prioritize women, girls and underserved youth.

Building on Equity Group Foundation’s established education programs including Wings to Fly and the Equity Leadership Program, which have supported more than 60,000 students, this collaboration extends the impact to refugees and vulnerable communities.

“Africa’s youth are digital natives. With the right skills, they can live in Africa but work for the rest of the world,” said Dr. James Mwangi, Executive Chairman of Equity Group Foundation. “This partnership is about equipping young people with the skills of the future, AI, coding, and data analytics — to help them thrive in a technology-driven world.”

iamtheCODE is an African-led movement operating in 89 countries. It provides digital education resources to millions of learners globally. The organization aims to reskill one million female learners by 2030, helping them access opportunities in technology and innovation.

“We must act urgently to skill our people,” said Jamme. “Partnerships like this one ensure that every young person, no matter their background, has the chance to learn, innovate, and lead in the digital economy.”

Participants will also gain soft and life skills like teamwork, leadership, and empathy. Equity Group will also offer loans for tools, internships, and startup support, linking program graduates to its network of 23 million customers to promote digital entrepreneurship.
