Yellow Card Names Gillian Darko VP of Strategy to Drive Stablecoin Expansion in Emerging Markets

Yellow Card has appointed Gillian Darko as its new Vice President of Strategy. Darko previously served as the company’s Chief of Staff and Director of Strategy, where she was responsible for shaping Yellow Card’s growth initiatives.

Darko brings experience from global and African institutions including JP Morgan Asset Management, PwC, and JUMO. She has also held governance roles on executive boards across Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, and Tanzania — markets that represent both regulatory complexity and high potential for fintech adoption.

In her new role, shw will oversee Yellow Card’s long-term strategic planning, innovation initiatives, and entry into new markets. According to the company, the appointment underscores a commitment to embedding “world-class financial discipline” into its operations while leveraging stablecoins to improve cross-border payment solutions.

“Stepping into this role is about seizing the momentum we’ve built and accelerating it,” Darko said in a company statement. “My focus is on driving revenue through a powerful growth engine, built on innovative commercial strategies that expand our market presence, unlock new opportunities, and create sustainable value.”

Beyond her corporate achievements, Darko is recognised for advancing gender diversity in the fintech space. She serves as an Ambassador for Women in Payments Africa and is a former nominee for Outstanding Woman in Tech.
