Xiaomi launched the Redmi A5 in Kenya today, with the phone’s retail price starting at Ksh 9,499. This is the price for the 3GB RAM variant with 64GB of internal storage space. There is a 4GB RAM model with 128GB of storage available for Ksh 11,099.

This is one of the cheapest smartphones to launch in Kenya this year and the first smartphone from Xiaomi under 10k to launch in the country in 2025.We do not see that many smartphone launches within this price range except from itel so this is a nice addition.

Xiaomi has packed some impressive specs on the Redmi A5 including a display with 120Hz, a front facing camera that can record 1080p videos a 5,200 mAh battery, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Android 15 (Go edition) among other features. These are not mind blowing specs but they are quite good for the price and make the phone more desirable than the recently launched HMD Arc.

Have a look at the other key specifications of the Redmi A5 below.
