    Applications are now Open for the Google for Startup Accelerator Africa Program

    Google has opened applications for the 8th cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program.With this cohort, Google is specifically targeting startups that are harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to address challenges and unlock opportunities across Africa. 

    Google for Startups Accelerator Africa is a three-month virtual program offering equity-free support to African startups. The startups will be paired with  Google and industry experts to solve their startup’s top challenges, and are provided with insights and best practices to improve their product and business.

    The program includes mentorship, technical resources, and access to a global network of industry experts and investors. It was first introduced in 2018 and has so far bolstered 106 startups hailing from 17 African nations, collectively raising over $263 million and generating more than 2,800 direct employment opportunities.

    “We’re thrilled to empower the next wave of African AI innovators through the Google for Startups Accelerator, equipping them with the necessary resources and mentorship to cultivate successful and impactful ventures,” stated  Folarin Oreoluwa Aiyegbusi Head of Startups Ecosystem, Africa at Google. “Africa’s tech landscape is teeming with innovation, and AI stands poised to revolutionize diverse sectors.”

    The 8th Cohort is scheduled to run from June to September 2024. It does have a number of benefits including equity-free support, personalized mentorship, technical workshops, access to a global network, and an enriching community experience.

    How to Apply

    You can apply for the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program from April 29 to May 20, 2024. You can apply here g.co/AcceleratorAfrica. 

    Entry Criteria

    • Startups demonstrating traction, ideally between Seed and Series A stage.
    • Building a scalable product or service with a significant total addressable market and defensible growth model.
    • Deeply technical, preferably leveraging technologies like Machine Learning and AI.
    • Commitment from CTO and/or technical roles to participate and engage in required program sessions.
