OPPO Reno10 5G Unboxing and First Impressions

OPPO Reno 10 5G unboxing

The OPPO Reno10 5G is launching in Kenya today. It is the successor to the Reno8 T that I reviewed a few months back. I did love the Reno8 T particularly its design with the curved display and back. OPPO is keeping this design language with the Reno10 5G. It is a beautiful phone that stands out everywhere I go. I got the Ice Blue color that looks stunning. The phone I will be unboxing is the standard OPPO Reno10 5G, there is the OPPO Reno10 Pro which comes with slightly better specs and features.

The OPPO Reno10 5G is available in Kenya for Ksh 56,999 while the Reno10 Pro 5G is available for Ksh 69,999.

I did an unboxing video which you can check out below.

First Impressions

When taking the phone out of the box for the first time, I did notice the similarity it had to the Reno8 T. The Reno10 5G has the same Curved edges that give it an appealing look. I particularly love the curved display that gives it a premium touch. The phone feels like a flagship device and stands out from most other phones it competes with.

This is one good looking smartphone by all standards. The way the display curves on the edges ensure the experience is immersive. Even with the curved display, you can hold the phone tightly and have no issues interacting with the display.

The back is made of plastic but still feels premium. It is not a fingerprint magnet. The ice blue colour really pops and you see an almost gold like finish depending on the angle you look at it from.

The power and volume buttons are all on the right section. This is different to the Reno8 T that had the power button on the right and the volume keys on the left. The power button has a green accent that I have come to associate most OPPO smartphones With.

We do not get a 3.5mm headphone jack on this phone but we do get an IR blaster at the top. This is the first time I have used an IR blaster on an OPPO smartphone. At the top we also have the microphone for better call quality and a second speaker. This phone does have stereo speakers that produce very rich and loud sound.

The other speaker is on the bottom section next to the USB-C port and the SIM tray.

I do love the stereo speakers on this phone as the sound coming out of both speakers is well balanced. With most other smartphones, the bottom speaker is louder compared to the one next to the earpiece.

Powering the Reno10 5G is the Dimensity 7050 processor from MediaTek. This is one capable processor that has been paired with 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The RAM can be expanded by an additional 8GB if you need it. Performance has been exceptional and even gaming is great. This is not a gaming phone but you will be OK with most titles.

Potrait Camera

The main selling point of the Reno10 5G is the camera. Both the front facing facing and back cameras take really good shots. I have been impressed with the potrait mode so far, it does a very good job blurring the background for very dramatic shots. Some of that is done by the software after taking the photo but still the quality is good.

The bback camera can also record 4K videos at 30fps.

Lastly, the phone comes with a 5000 mAh battery that supports 67W SuperVOOC fast charging. The battery should easily last an entire day and quickly charge when running low.
