OPPO is currently the fourth largest smartphone manufacturer according to the latest data from Canalys. The Chinese manufacturer held 10% share of the global smartphone market in the first half of 2023. In China, OPPO was the best selling smartphone brand during the same period.

During the same period, this is how the market share was for the other manufacturers:

    • Samsung 21% market share
    • Apple 17% market share
    • Xiaomi 13% market share
    • OPPO 10% market share
    • Transsion 9% market share

OPPO attributes this performance in part to the success of its foldable smartphones. The OPPO Find N2 Flip is the only foldable smartphone from the company that is currently available in retail stores in Kenya. The phone is available for Ksh 130,000, I did review it a few weeks back and you can read more about it here.

he foldable market is expected to grow in the next few years with the IDC predicting it to reach 48 million units by 2027. At the moment, Samsung is the global leader in the foldable market space. The company recently unveiled its new foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 that will be available in Kenya soon. While Samsung is the global foldable smartphone manufacturer, OPPO is one of the manufacturers dominating the foldable market in China. Canalys reports that OPPO has 31% share of the foldable market in China.
