Indigo Airline Begins Flights Between Mumbai And Nairobi

IndiGo has announced the inclusion of Nairobi as the 28th international destination in its 6E network. The airline has opened bookings for daily non-stop flights between Mumbai, India’s bustling city, and Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, starting from August 5, 2023.

This new route marks a significant milestone for IndiGo as it expands its reach into the African subcontinent, offering numerous benefits to both business and leisure travelers. It represents a key strategic move in IndiGo’s international expansion strategy, strengthening ties and promoting trade and travel routes between India and Kenya, thus fostering economic growth.

Mr. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed his delight about the launch of direct flights between Mumbai and Nairobi, emphasizing the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries. He highlighted the significant developments in trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges witnessed in recent years. With India emerging as Kenya’s third-largest trading partner and witnessing increased investments in commerce, technology, and agriculture, this new air route will further enhance economic ties and facilitate seamless connectivity. The Kenya Tourism Board Acting CEO, John Chirchir, expressed his satisfaction with IndiGo’s launch of direct flights from Mumbai to Nairobi, commencing in August 2023. He emphasized the milestone achieved in increasing the number of visitor arrivals from India, which is currently the leading Asian source market. The direct access to Nairobi, a regional business and travel hub, will undoubtedly provide leisure tourists, business visitors, and investors with seamless connections to the destination, in addition to Kenya Airways, the national carrier.
