A few weeks back, OPPO opened its biggest service center inKenya and announced that it will be launching its new tablet in Kenya soon. The tablet, the OPPO Pad Air, is now available in Kenya for Ksh 34,999. OPPO has been a big player in the smartphone space but has not really shown interest in the tablet market until now. The Pad Air comes to the market a couple of months after the launch of the OPPO Reno8 T, which is one of the best smartphones from the company that I have ever used.

The OPPO Pad Air was unveiled globally back in May 2022 so it is not a new device per se. It is still new for the Kenyan market. Given that it is a 2022 device, it does come with some 2022 features and hardware. The tablet space is not saturated like the smartphone space so OPPO can still sell a good number of units if it markets the tablet well.

    OPPO Pad Air Specifications

The OPPO Pad Air has a 10.36 inch display with a resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels. This is an IPS LCD display with Stylus support. This display has passed TÜV Rheinland’s certification for low blue light eye protection. The display therefore ensures clear and smooth pictures and effectively reduces eye fatigue.

The Pad Air is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor that is paired with 4 or 6GB of RAM and 64 or 128GB of storage depending on the variant that you chose. Out of the box, it comes with Android 12 and ColorOS 12.

OPPO Pad Air incorporates two new Multi-Screen Connect functions, namely file drag and drop and clipboard sharing, while maintaining the original unique functions for smart interactions, including two-finger split screen, four-finger floating window, and Smart Sidebar.

For cameras, we do get an 8MP sensor at the back and a 5MP front facing one.

The Pad Air comes with a massive 7,100 mAh battery (non-removable) that supports 18W charging. With this battery, OPPO says you can watch videos for up to 12 hours, attend video conferences for 15 hours, or read e-books for 16 hours. Real world usage may vary so be aware of that if you are planning to buy this tablet.
