In the world of premium foldable smartphones, Samsung and Huawei are the dominant players. Samsung has a number of foldable devices on the market with the latest ones being the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. Both these phones are available for Ksh  Ksh 142,000 and Ksh 256,000 respectively. You can buy both devices from Jumia.

The latest foldable device to make its way to Kenya is the Huawei Mate XS 2. This phone was unveiled to a global audience back in May and it is now available on pre-order in the country. You can pre-order the phone through Amaya or Huawei brand shops across the country for Ksh 284,000.

The Huawei Mate XS 2 joins another foldable device from the company, the Huawei P50 Pocket that you can buy for Ksh 220,000.

    Huawei Mate XS 2 specifications

The Huawei Mate Xs 2 has a 7.8 inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. This display has a resolution of 2480×2200 pixels. When folded, the display size is 6.5 inches. It weighs about 255g which makes it quite heavy compared to most other smartphones on the market. This is expected given its size.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 888 4G chipset. This is not the latest and premium processor from Qualcomm but can still get the job done. You can get the phone in 8 or 12GB RAM configurations with either 256 or 512GB of storage. There is a microSD card slot if these two memory configurations are not enough for you.

A triple camera setup sits at the back with 50MP (wide) main sensor, 8MP telephoto lens and a 13MP ultrawide lens. For selfies, the phone has a 10.7 MP camera. Both the back and front facing cameras can record 4K videos.

The Huawei Mate XS 2 has two different battery sizes. A 4600 mAh unit for all configurations and a 4800 mAb battery for the variant with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Huawei Mate XS 2 price and availability in Kenya

As mentioned, the Huawei Mate XS 2 is currently available on pre-order in Kenya. You can pre-order it for Ksh 284,000. Those who pre-order this phone will get the Huawei GT2 Pro smartwatch worth 26,000 for free.
