It’s March and definitely yet another Pixel feature drop date for Pixel users. The feature drop was rolled out on Monday (07/03/2022) to owners of devices between the Pixel 3a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, and Pixel 5a. Unfortunately, Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro users will have to wait a little longer until later March, a rather abrasive experience for someone with the latest Google flagship model.
So what is it that Pixel 6 users have to wait for that other Pixel users are enjoying today?, here’s a breakdown of what’s new in Google’s latest Pixel Feature drop.
1. Communicating with subtitles/captions
You will no longer be required to talk on Live Caption during phone calls. You can just read what the other person says and then type back your response. Google Assistant will read out your typed responses to the other person(s) on the call. The short version is that it can basically transcribe subtitles from audio in near-real-time
2. Make messaging and video calls less boring
Messaging and video calls will be more fun as this update brings with it an emoji kitchen and custom sticker suggestions. You can now host your own YouTube watch parties or share your favorite app with live sharing for Duo on your Pixel phone.
3. Night Sight comes to Snapchat
Night Sight now works right within the Snapchat app and you can now snap vibrant, detailed, low-light videos or photos without necessarily using the flash.
4. Pixel battery widget
The At a Glance widget at the top of the home screen on Pixels will now update you on battery levels for connected devices, provide earthquake alerts, offer to turn off alarms if tomorrow is a holiday, and show a safety check countdown from the Personal Safety app. There is also a new standalone battery widget that gives you battery information for your phone and connected devices.
5. Direct My Call and Wait Times are both now available on the Pixel 3a and older devices.
6. You can share apps with live sharing for Google Duo using only your phone.
7. Converting typed words into colorful stickers.
8. Language barrier? No problem
Live Translation Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro makes communicating in different languages easy and with Interpreter mode, you can now translate your face-to-face conversations with Spanish, Italian, and French speakers right on your phone, as all translations stay on the device.
Your phone can also identify Spanish in videos and translate it automatically into English, French, Italian, German, and Japanese (beta)
9. Three new wallpapers are available in the Curated Culture collection, this time celebrating International Women’s Day.
10. Assistant Quick Phrases are available in Spanish, Italian, and French.
