MWC 2022: realme Expands into Global High-end Smartphone Market with GT 2 Series

realme GT2

realme has unveiled its first premium GT 2 Series at Mobile World Conference (MWC) 2022. It has been the first time the three-year-old upstart has held a launch event at the world’s most influential connectivity event.

Embodying the spirit of “Greater Than You See”, the GT 2 Series not only introduces the visible – the master design and premium display with the fastest CPU performance, but the invisible – the relentless innovation pursuit behind product.

Peaking during the Mobile World Congress, MWC, Madhav Sheth, VP of realme and President of realme International Business Group said that to go premium, we will invest more than 70% of the company’s R&D resources on exploring advanced technologies in display, fast charging and 5G-related performance to provide users with top-tier flagship experiences, noting that it requires tremendous investment on tech innovation, user insights and brand building to strongly push into the high-end segment.

High-end Push in Europe and more

realme has taken a number of initiatives to promote brand awareness and local sales force of GT 2 series in global expansion, especially in the buoyant European and Chinese markets. Ranked as a top 4 smartphone brand in Europe (Q4 2021, Canalys), realme has accelerated its market penetration and channel developments.

realme has teamed up with major European carriers including Vodafone, orange, Deutsche Telecom to bring amazing 5G products to a wider customer group across Europe, starting with the advanced GT 2 through Vodafone and Deutsche Telecom’s online and offline stores. Special early-bird offers and trendy pop-up store joint initiatives will also be tailored by realme, carriers and other partners to provide customers with unique and engaging experience.

After debuting GT 2 series in Europe at MWC, this premium flagship will also arrive in India, Middle East, Southeast Asia and Latin America in coming months.

Eco-driven Design Innovation

realme GT 2 Series features Paper Tech Master Design which is the world’s first bio-based smartphone design.

Noticeably, realme has been looking for ways to create a truly environmentally friendly smartphone on GT 2 and GT 2 Pro. GT 2 Series is world’s first smartphone to use a biopolymer for its entire rear panel, reducing carbon emissions from its manufacturing by 35.5%. Compared with purely petroleum-based materials, this biopolymer creates 2kg fewer carbon emissions for every kilogram made.

GT 2 Pro has also received the TCO 9.0 sustainability certification, which requires a socially-responsible manufacturing process for realme and all of its suppliers, with over 40 sustainability performance indicators being checked. The percentage of plastic used in the phone’s packaging has also been reduced from 21.7% to a tiny 0.3%, which is almost no plastic left any more.
