A few days ago, WhatsApp rolled out an update that lets users set new messages to automatically delete after a set interval. This is the latest privacy setting implemented by the popular messaging app.

Users are now able to turn on disappearing messages on WhatsApp for all new chats and new groups that they create. This means that you can have new chats auto delete after 24 hours if you want to. This can be helpful if you get so many spam chats or anyone who wants to clear clutter from their messages inbox.

In a statement, WhatsApp said, “we are excited to provide our users with more options to control their messages and how long they stick around, with default disappearing messages and multiple durations.”

These latest changes present an update to the previous feature that only allowed users to set messages to delete automatically from WhatsApp after 7 days. With the latest change, you can set messages to delete after 24 hours, 7 days and 90 days.

If you want to set WhatsApp messages to auto-delete, the following steps should help.

Choose how long messages to stay in your inbox before they are deleted. You can also turn this feature off.

Note: The default message timer option is only available with the latest update of the app.

WhatsApp will let your message recipients know how long you have set for the messages to disappear.
