Tecno to Spin Off the Phantom Series into a Separate Premium Smartphone Sub-Brand

Phantom X Launch

Tecno is set to spin off the Phantom series into a separate smartphone sub-brand. The Phantom series was the company’s flagship series but it has not seen much activity in the last 12 years. Tecno will be changing that as it unveils the Tecno Phantom X in the coming weeks.

The last Phantom device we reviewed was the Tecno Phantom 9 back in 2019. This was quite an impressive phone but we did not see its successor in 2020 and this led to many speculating that the company has decided to axe the series.

Well, it looks like that was not the case as the company will be re-introducing the series as its own Sub-brand. This is not new in the smartphone space as Xiaomi has done so with the Poco brand, Huawei has also done a similar thing with its Honor brand.

For Tecno, the first device in the series will be the Tecno Phantom X that as we have mentioned will be unveiled in the coming weeks. With the Phantom sub-brand, Tecno is said to be aiming to tackle the premium smartphone market amid an ambitious global expansion plan. The Phantom series was already its flagship series so it only makes sense for the sub-brand to build on top of that.

The Tecno Phantom X is expected to have features such as 3D borderless screen, a special design of angle arc to present users with the best comfortable grip in hands, and an industry first curved glass surface etched texture, and more.

According to Tecno, the “Phantom brand is bound to reshape the competitive landscape and ecology of the entire smartphone industry of the mid and high-end segment by bring industry most-advanced technologies with fantastic innovative features.”

Given that this will be a flagship sub-brand, customers should expect premium touches that may not be available on some of the other Tecno smartphones on the market.

The Phantom sub-brand will be available to purchase online at www.mobile-phantom.com. The site will formally launch in July 2021.
