Google Photo’s Free Unlimited Storage Has Come to An End

If you back up photos and videos using Google Photos, you should know that the unlimited free storage option has finally come to an end. This came to an end a few days ago (June 1st) and means that the photos that will be uploaded to Google Photos will count towards the 15GB data limit that you get with every Google account.

When you have so many photos and reach the 15GB limit, you will be forced to get a Google One subscription which starts at Ksh 200 per month for an extra 100GB of storage space.

All the photos and videos that you uploaded before June 1st will not be affected and do not count towards the 15GB cap. This means that you don’t have to worry about these as you will still have access to them.

Since users will now be required to pay more if they have more photos to upload, most will be forced to look for other options and upload their photos to other platforms. This will be especially true for those who have other cloud storage subscriptions and may not see any reason to pay for Google Photos.

Relationship status: turning off automatic photo backup on @googlephotos because, in the absence of the free storage, what's the point?

If you can, get @onedrive for all your storage needs, not just photos. pic.twitter.com/rQCbdLY99X
