Yesterday, Huawei announced its latest smartwatch, the Huawei Watch 3. This Is the company’s first smartwatch running HarmonyOS and not LiteOS as is the case with its previous smartwatches. HarmonyOS was announced by the company over a year ago and was meant to be the OS for IOT products and not necessarily smartphones.

The Huawei Watch 3 is what you expect from a modern smartwatch but has some additional features including LTE connectivity and eSIM support. These can make the watch a standalone device that may not be dependent on a smartphone entirely.

The Watch 3 has a 1.43-inch AMOLED display that has a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. This is a round display that gives it a different look from the square smartwatches we have on the market.

Since the watch has eSIM and LTE support, you can use it make phone calls, stream music as well as download applications without it being linked to your phone. If you have always wanted a standalone smartwatch, this is the one to choose.

The Huawei Watch 3 is compatible with smartphones running Android 6.0 or later or iOS 9.0 or later. It does come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage space. For battery life, Huawei says it can last for up to 3 days in smart mode but like with other devices, how long it lasts will depend on how you use it.

Just like other smartwatches, the Watch 3 comes with a number of health-focused features including skin temperature detector, SpO2, heart rate monitoring and emergency SOS support. It also allows activity, sleep, calorie, and stress tracking, along with fitness tracking.

Besides the standard Huawei Watch 3, the company also announced the Huawei Watch 3 Pro that will be slightly more expensive and will have a more “professional look” and different band options. Pricing for both models has not been released but we should have that information in the coming weeks.
