Twitter Spaces, the platform’s answer to Clubhouse, is not just live on Android, but you can also host your audio chat rooms. Before the recent update, Twitter only allowed Android users to join Spaces.

To create a Space, tap the compose button and select the new Spaces option. Twitter Spaces can host up to 10 speakers(11 in total, plus the host) but allows as many people to join a single room.

Your followers and followers of invited speakers will be able to see an ongoing session from in the Stories bar atop the timeline. Spaces are shown using a distinct style with display photos of the host and some invited speakers.

For flexibility, listeners can request to speak, and hosts can invite listeners to join the conversation.

The Audio Frenzy

Twitter is not the only social media app to launch a feature that mimics Clubhouse. Following Clubhouse’s boom amid the pandemic, other social media giants have jumped on the opportunity. Facebook has launched a full foray into audio with a rad of new features, including a direct Clubhouse competitor and a Podcast feature.

Reddit, one of the internet’s popular Q&A sites, is testing an audio-only feature, and Discord already launched a similar feature. Telegram is also working on the same.

Who will be next? Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp – who knows?
