The year 2020 saw an invisible enemy called Covid-19 sweep across the world upending our lives. Simple illness prevention measures we previously took for granted are now mandatory, like regular washing of hands with soap and sanitizing to keep free of the contagious virus.

In the pandemic era, the importance of living in clean spaces cannot be over-stated. Microbes like bacteria and viruses can survive on surfaces around us for a long time. With hygiene now paramount as part of healthy living, germ-free living spaces ensure the peace of mind to go about our daily activities at work and home.

Families need home appliances that can prevent and fight the spread of viruses and other harmful germs inside the house. The water we drink and use to cook, and the air we breathe, are the main sources of illness causing germs.

LG offers a wide range of water and air purifiers whose usability makes them suitable for every home. Recent trends show that more consumers desire home appliances that promote healthy living. This includes ensuring the water and air we use is clean at all times for illness prevention.

For example, LG’s latest InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerators coming to the market this year feature an innovative water dispenser that purifies water using ultraviolet light. Water sterilization using UV-C light kills harmful micro-organisms like bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites in water ensuring safety of the family.

The Center for Diseases Control (CDC) warns that air within homes and other buildings can be more polluted than the air outdoors. Within people spending more time indoors, the exposure to contaminated air is higher.

High temperatures and humidity can increase the concentration of pollutants in homes. Some of these are biologic pollutants that cause transmissible diseases like influenza and even Covid-19. Air pollutants are also found in vehicles thus increasing health risks while commuting.

The benefits of an air purifier include getting rid of harmful microbes in the air, unpleasant odors and stale air leading to improved health and sleep.

With rapid advances in technology, air purifiers are now wearable. The air we breathe has many disease-causing agents. LG’s Wearable Air Purifier solves that problem. Now available in Kenya, it is comfortable and offers maximum protection outdoors or in the office and other indoor settings.

Since it is to clean, the wearable air purifier reduces environmental waste as is the case with disposable face masks which if not properly disposed, litter the surroundings and are an eyesore.
