Here’s What People Searched for the Most on Google in 2020

Google app

At the end of each year, Google releases the most popular trends in its unanimous search engine. This year is no different. Google has released the Year in Search 2020 report that showcases the most for terms, people, movies, concerts, lyrics, games, and TV Shows.

Popular searches

As expected, Coronavirus topped searches, and two other related terms, Coronavirus update and Coronavirus symptoms ranked 7th and 8th, respectively. At number two is Election results which, is no surprise, as it was the year when the US held its elections.

Kobe Brant was the third popular search term due to his demise. Zoom was the most popular app of the year and was ranked number four on popular searches. Google Classroom was number ten on the list.

Games

2020 has been a gaming year with mainstream gaming companies Microsoft and Sony releasing their next-gen consoles, the Xbox Series X/S and PS5. And there hasn’t been any other time when opportunity met unpreparedness – it’s hard to get your hands on a single next-gen console right now.

So if you’re interested to know new games that people are interested in, at least, Google has answers.

The most searched games of the year include Among Us, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, Valorant, Genshin Impact, The Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima, FIFA 21, Animal Crossing, and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Movies and TV Shows

Movies that took the world by the storm include Parasite, 1917, Black Panther, 365 Dni, Contagion, Tenet, Enola Holmes, Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, Mulan, and Jojo Rabbit.

Popular TV Shows in 2020 included Tiger King, Big Brother Brasil, Money Heist, Cobra Kai, The Umbrella Academy, Emily in Paris, Ozark, The Queen’s Gambit, Outer Banks, and Locke & Key, in that order.
