A new report suggests that Samsung may launch the Galaxy S21 series a month earlier – in January – to steal market share from Huawei. The report suggests Samsung is preparing to launch the upcoming Galaxy S21 series phones as early as late January.

Although not precisely the same as last week’s report, which suggested the company may launch the new phones on January 14th, it still an additional confirmation that things may change next year.

Samsung usually announces its flagship Galaxy S phones in February or March. This year, the company launched the Galaxy S20 in early March.

Last week’s report suggested Samsung may launch the S21 flagship series phones on January 14th, and they will be available in Black, White, Grey, Silver, Violet, and Pink.

The new report supports the earlier launch date saying it’s also meant to help Samsung avert competition from Apple.

But the South Korean tech giant is expected to face stiff competition from other Chinese companies like Xiaomi and OPPO. Samsung, Xiaomi and OPPO are among the major smartphone companies expected to take advantage of Huawei’s troubles.

A recent report from Counterpoint Research showed Huawei had climbed to position three, surpassing Apple in market share. Samsung reclaimed its number one spot in Q3, reporting a 47% rise in sales from Q2.

Samsung shipped 79.8 million smartphones from July to September.
