The Infinix Note 8 is the latest smartphone from the company to launch in Kenya. The phone is available in Kenya for around Ksh 21,800 and is the successor to the Note 7 that I reviewed not so long ago.

The Note 7 was and still is a good phone and had some very good cameras. The Note 8 is not that different as I have noticed for the few days I have been using it.

In this post, I will be highlighting some of the top 8 things you need to know about this phone before you go out to buy it.

    Price

The first thing you need to know about this phone is the price. On Jumia, the phone is listed for Ksh 21,800 but this may vary depending on where you get it from.

    Massive Display

Infinix Note devices are known for their sizes and the Note 8 is not any different. The Infinix Note 8 has a 6.95-inch display that is quite big but surprisingly the phone is still comfortable to use with one hand. The level of comfort will depend on your preference and the size of your hands.

    Infinix Note 8

As for the resolution, the Infinix Note 8 has a resolution of 720 by 1640 pixels. This display and resolution is good for most situations and even when under direct sunlight.

    Helio G80 Processor

The Infinix Note 8 is powered by the Helio G80 processor which is an upgrade to the Helio G70 processor on the Note 7. The G80 handles all tasks with no issues. This is not the most powerful processor Infinix could have used but it is good enough for its price.

    6GB RAM, 128GB Storage

Still on performance, the Note 8 has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage space. With 6GB of RAM, multitasking is a breeze and I did not experience any issues when using this phone. I could switch between different apps without any problems at all.

The 128GB of storage space is enough to store all the photos or music that you may want to have on your phone.

    Android 10 with XOS 7.1

The Note 8 is powered by Android 10 with XOS 7.1 on top. I have just spent a few days with this so I cannot say much about it. It feels smooth so far and refined but still has the annoying ads we have come to expect from Infinix phones. You can avoid this by installing a third party launcher, which is something I have done, but I do not feel like this should be what buyers are forced to do on a smartphone they spent money on. Infinix should change this to be honest as it makes for an awful experience.

    64MP Main Camera

    Infinix Note 8 cameras

The Infinix Note 8 comes with a quad camera setup at the back with the main one having a 64MP sensor. The others are three 2MP sensors that are not that enticing to be honest. Even with that said, the shots I got with the 64MP sensor are quite good. Very detailed and clear shot should be expected when using the cameras on the Note 8.

    Dual Selfie Setup

    Infinix Note 8 front camera

The Note 8 has a dual selfie setup at the front. This is made up of a 16MP main sensor and a 2MP additional one. Just like the back camera setup, expect good shots from the selfie camera in different lighting conditions.

    5200 mAh Battery

With a 5200 mAh battery, the Note 8 is good enough for most people and should last for up to 2 days. This is a huge battery and even with a powerful processor, it does not drain that fast. I most cases I have had up to 2 days on a single charge and still have some power left to go on for a few hours.
