The Tecno Spark series in Kenya is expanding and the latest addition to this series is the Tecno Spark 5 Pro. This phone has been available in other markets for a few months and it is only now that we are getting it in Kenya.

I have the Spark 5 Pro in for review and before I get to it, I thought I should do a post highlighting some of the top 5 things you need to know about this phone.

I will be reviewing this phone and the full post of that should be up here within the next week.

    The Price

The first thing anyone would want to know is the price of the Tecno Spark 5 Pro. The phone is available starting from Ksh 13,999. You can get the Spark 5 Pro through Jumia and Tecno branded shops across the country.

The Spark 5 Pro is one of the handful of devices in this series with the other ones being the Tecno Spark 5 and the Spark 5 Air. I reviewed the Spark 5 back in May and did not see it as a worthy upgrade given that it wasn’t adding anything new to the market. I hope this will be different with the Pro version.

    5,000 mAh Battery

The Tecno Spark 5 Pro comes with a 5,000 mAh battery. This is quite big and is the size we are getting used to seeing on most smartphones in 2020.

With a 5,000 mAh battery on a smartphone that is not very powerful, you can expect at least 1 day of use and I can easily see this battery last for up to 2 days or even more depending on how you use your phone.

    Quad Camera Setup

The Tecno Spark 5 Pro has a quad camera setup at the back. This setup is made up of a 16MP main sensor, a 2MP macro lens, 2MP depth sensor and a QVGA camera. This is promising for a smartphone within this price range and I will be testing it out to see how it performs in the full review.

For selfies, it has an 8MP shooter.

    6.6 Inch Display

For the display, Tecno has included a 6.6 inch one on the Spark 5 Pro. This is the same display size we had on the standard Spark 5. The resolution has also been maintained so we are getting the same one we had from earlier this year.

Even with that said, this is still a good resolution. The 720 x 1600 pixels offer a good viewing experience for most people looking for smartphones within this price.

    Up to 4GB of RAM

On paper, the Tecno Spark 5 Pro should only have 3GB of RAM but the review unit I got surprisingly has 4GB of RAM. I am not sure how much the 4GB variant would cost as the Ksh 13,999 price tag is for the 3GB variant.

The 4GB variant comes with 128GB of internal storage space.
