itel is one of the many brands under Transsion with the others being Infinix, Tecno and a few others. Transsion holdings has been focusing on smartphones for years but we have been seeing it branch to other segments recently.

For itel, it plans to reposition its brand and this will start later this week with a grand launch at 7:30 to 8:00PM on 18th September. The live stream will be on KTN and Facebook and a rerun on 19th at 7:30 on NTV. Itel has confirmed that it is ready for the brand repositioning after serving the Kenyan market for over 10 years.

As itel’s Facebook page has unveiled, the brand plans not only to debut its latest smartphone S16, but also home appliances and wearable devices.

    itel S16: specs to expect

itel has not confirmed any details of its upcoming devices but from the teaser picture shared on its Facebook page, the itel S16 should have a large HD+ waterdrop screen, with stylish narrow bezel. As is the trend in 2020, it should come with a punch-hole notch which is not something we have seen on itel smartphones or even from most other brands within itel’s price range.

The phone will also come with a triple camera setup at the back. Speaking of camera, the previous model of itel S series, S15, has set the bar quite high on photography (16MP selfie camera). The S16 series could launch with an upgrade not only on hardware specs, but also on software and user experience sector.

Itel’s new ambition: what do we know so far

itel is spreading its retail network online, whereby customers can now order smartphones, TVs and wearable devices on either Kilimall, Jumia or Xpark . Consumers will now be able to order itel products on the digital platforms. It has been a common practice for smartphone manufacturers to march into the category of IoT devices. With itel onboard, customers should expect to have more products to choose from at budget-friendly prices.
