Safaricom has today announced a new campaign that seeks to reward customers with free 500MB daily bonus. Customers will enjoy the free 500MB daily bonus with every purchase of a personalized no-expiry data bundle.

This new campaign dubbed ‘Browse Bila Waas,’ is open to both Prepay and PostPay customers. Subscribers will be able to access their personalized data bundles by dialing *544# and then choosing option “0”- Unlock your Free 500MB.

The bonus data will be available every day until 19th November 2020. Subscribers will instantly receive the bonus 500MB data valid until midnight of the same day.

This new data offer comes a month after the company announced its partnership with Google in the Lipa Mdogo Mdogo initiative. In this initiative, Safaricom seeks to switch its subscribers who are currently using 2G devices over to 4G devices. The company says it plans to switch over 1 million of its subscribers who are currently on 2G.

The Lipa Mdogo Mogo initiative involves customers getting a 4G enabled device by paying a down payment of Ksh Ksh 1,000 and paying the rest in instalments of Ksh 20 per day till the balance is complete. At the moment, only the Safaricom Neon Ray Pro is available in the program and its retail price is about Ksh 6,000. Safaricom hopes the hire purchase plan will make it easier for its subscribers on 2G to jump ship to 4G.

“Our ambition is to connect our customers to the opportunities presented by the internet by availing affordable data, expanding our 4G network and facilitating access to quality smartphones. The new data offer goes back to our promise to always provide our customers with more for less on Kenya’s best 4G network,” said Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom CEO.
