WhatsApp’s latest beta update, for both iOS and Android, hints on several changes headed to the app.

WABetaInfo reveals that WhatsApp for iOS has overhauled the context menu, both in chats and groups on iOS 13.

The new context menu ditches WhatsApp’s custom context menu that was available across chats and groups. These changes are reflected in version 2.20.50.21 of WhatsApp if you keep tabs on that.

Another new change involves share sheet integration, which was previously available on version 2.20.40 and 2.20.41. In the latest beta update, share sheet integration has been scrapped off by the company after the feature started crashing.

Once the company figures out what caused the unfortunate crashing, the feature will be back up, says WABetaInfo. Last week, the publication reported the presence of an Advanced Search Mode feature, which will help in finding different media types easily both on Android and iOS.

Sometime in the past, WhatsApp was hinted working on way to let users encrypt Google Drive backups. This is still under development. But, there’s now a new field added inside the app where you can paste your protection password inside the app on Android.

On Android, WhatsApp’s recent beta update tweaks on auto-download settings usually found under Chats Settings. According to version 2.20.117 beta, frequently forwarded images, videos, documents, and voice messages will not be auto-downloaded by default.

As usual, all of these features are still in early development hence no solid timeline to when they will be publicly available.
