    Watching videos on YouTube is one of the most popular things done right now according to recent statistics from Apptopia. The platform’s rich catalog of videos is more welcoming but watching lengthy videos can be tiring especially if you’re interested in just a few topics covered in it. This is especially true for tutorials and DIY videos.

    That’s why the company has been rumored to be testing a new feature called Chapters. The Chapter feature borrows the name and, well, the idea of organizing books and even magazines into small crunchable topics that are related. YouTube Chapters feature will take timestamps curated by creators then organizes them into chapter markers.

    Since most creators, at least to me, do not bother to include timestamps, YouTube won’t try to do it for them currently. That should be a consideration in the future, but who knows?

    Here is an example;

    This is HUGE for YouTube! Look at the timeline!!! It takes the timestamps from my description and essentially turned them into chapter markers for the video! It shows the title of the section and how much you've completed! AMAAZING! pic.twitter.com/gEG5fYvoot

    As shown above, Chapters takes the regular timestamps usually created by creators and adds more icing on it. With Chapters, the video progress bar appears to be divided into sections. Hovering over a subsection reveals the chapter’s title plus your progress in that particular chapter.

    Currently, the feature is appearing to some users on both mobile and even the web, according to Android Police. The feature is only available to select users and having the latest APK doesn’t guarantee its presence, according to the publication. However, you can try and watch the video embedded below and to confirm whether you’re among the few.
