Huawei is ready to launch its next smartphone in Kenya this coming week. This new phone, the Huawei Y7p, will be launched on April 17 and will be the third smartphone from the company to launch in Kenya this year. The other two are the Huawei Nova 5T and the Huawei Y6s.

This phone was officially unveiled back in February and it looks like we are finally getting it in Kenya. This phone will not come with Google Mobile services and will be the first from the company with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) to launch in Kenya. It will be interesting to see how that plays out with the end users.

The Huawei Y7p will be powered by the Kirin 710F processor that will be paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space. It will come with Android Pie out of the box with EMUI 9.1 on top.

One of the key selling points of this phone is the 48MP AI triple camera. This is made up of a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP depth sensor.

Speaking of the soon to be launched device, Huawei Mobile Kenya Country Head, Jim Zhujie said, “Mid-range smartphones are often limited by their price point, which leads to them having to sacrifice key features. Even users who opt for smartphones in this segment have to settle for less. However, Huawei’s famed Y series adds a spin to this segment with smartphones that bring powerful features and trend-setting designs seen on flagship devices. The latest addition to this series is the HUAWEI Y7p, which brings to the segment a powerful 48MP AI Triple camera, a stylish design, solid performance features and a lot more.”

“In addition to this, the HUAWEI Y7p also brings to the segment powerful AI, which recognizes more than 500 scenes in 21 categories such as beaches, sky, fireworks etc, and adjusts the required settings for a perfect shot. Having this setup gives its users a chance to get creative and enjoy the best of smartphone photography and videography, without having to go out of their budget.’ He concluded.

Below are some of the key Huawei Y7p specifications.
